The Office of Tax Collector is an elected office that is required to be filled by a resident of Schwenksville Borough. Thomas Laconis was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Siobhan Pocius who was the elected Tax Collector for Schwenksville Borough from January of 2018 through her August resignation in August of 2019. Mr. Laconis won the November 6th 2019 Election and was sworn into office for remainder of the term effective January 6th 2020. He will be collecting 2020 taxes and all other business moving forward.
Ms. Pocius, however, will continue to be responsible for issuing Tax Certifications and Duplicate Bills for the 2018 and 2019 tax years.
The Borough Tax Collector serves Schwenksville Borough, Montgomery County and the Perkiomen Valley School District. His responsibility is to issue bills based on tax rates adopted by each jurisdiction and the assessed value of each property in Schwenksville Borough as determined by the Montgomery County Board of Assessment, and to collect current-year tax payments based on those bills. As an Elected Official, the Tax Collector is not an employee of Schwenksville Borough and does not have a permanent office at the Borough Hall.
