Earned Income Tax

EARNED INCOME TAX

The Earned Income Tax Rate for Schwenksville Borough residents is 1.4% of earned income.  The Borough receives .5% of the total collected and the remaining .9% goes to the Perkiomen Valley School District.

Act 32 of 2008 restructured the Earned Income Tax Collection System for all Pennsylvania Local Governments and School Districts.  Under Act 32, the earned income tax collection process has been restructured creating 69 county-wide tax collection districts (TCDs).  The Montgomery County TCD completed a competitive proposal process and selected Berkheimer Tax Administrator to collect taxes on its behalf.

Berkheimer Tax Administrator has detailed information for employers and tax payers on their web site.  You will be able to find information such as the tax rate, filing dates and employer withholding requirements.  We encourage you to take advantage of the fast and easy e-filing for individuals and employers, offered by Berkheimer.  You may also telephone them at 610-599-3139.

In 2018 Schwenksville Borough adopted Ordinance #394 establishing a Volunteer Service Credit Program authorizing a local earned income tax credit for qualified volunteer members of the Lower Frederick Fire Company.   Residents of Schwenksville Borough who volunteer for the Lower Frederic Fire Company should submit an application to their Fire Chief in January of Each Year to be considered for approval by Borough Council at their February Regular Meeting.
