Revitalization Task Force

aDSC_4368-768x511Schwenksville Borough invites businesses, organizations and residents to participate in the Borough’s Revitalization. There are numerous ways to get involved, whether it be by sponsoring Community Day or other special events; applying to create a mural on your property; or by purchasing a sponsorship for an element from our Streetscape Catalogue, including public art or murals, benches with dedication plaques, bike racks and posts,  sidewalk medallions, pavilions and more.  Have an idea not covered?  Let us know!  This  Streetscaping Catalogue illustrates some of the elements we’ve identified in our Main Street Plan Guidelines As Adopted and provides the cost to sponsor.

This round table with attached benches was donated by the family of  long time residents Bill and Mary Cressman.  Their grandson Kyle Speck wanted to honor his grandparents in a way that would be meaningful to a community that they love.  The Umbrella was donated by Nancy Fairclough.   Right in back of the table and by the digital sign are two trees planted and donated by Michael Smith who drives through Schwenksville every day, saw what the Borough was doing and asked if he could help.  The plants surrounding the electronic sign were donated by Chris Uhland, PCH, who also drives through town and thought he could help.

There is an old Chinese Proverb that says “ “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”.  It means that even the longest and most difficult ventures have a starting point; something which begins with one first step. And as long as we keep taking steps, we will continue to make progress.    Schwenksville Borough’s investment in Main Street is the first step.  We’ve planned for our journey and now we’ve begun.  As we continue our 1,000 mile march, we invite the community to join us in our revitalization journey.

Thank you Kyle Speck, Michael Smith and Chris Uhland for supporting Schwenksville Borough and being among the first to join in the revitalization efforts.
